Museum Cafe, Greenbelt 4

A Modern Asian restaurant with a touch of class and serenity. This, we both agreed to when asked what we can say about M cafe. We'd say that the location is very convenient plus it spells out  calm amidst the chaotic city streets. Especially  on a weekend morning, you would think you're somewhere else than in Makati. One  would feel really cultured when dining there as it is just across the Ayala Museum. However, this doesn't mean we're totally happy with the experience. Some touch-up on customer service and food quality would definitely make us eat there again.

One Sunday morning, when we decided to go for a brunchdate, we picked this restaurant to try out their Sunday Brunch  (hence). Unfortunately though, we were two hours too early. It starts at 10am so, obviously, they were still preparing when we got there. We opted for their a la carte breakfast meals instead.

Justin:
The waitstaff took forever to give us even the slightest of their attention  and when I had the chance to finally get it, he was gasping for air (from his early morning set-up); he gave me that eau de early morning breath that I oh so wanted…

We were seated outside and it started to drizzle, so I tried to call their attention that I wanted to switch places. They didn't attend to us right away. So, I ended up switching tables myself. When I did, that was the time they started to move their furniture…. Like it was more important than I was.

I ordered their Steak and Eggs with a cup of brewed coffee.

It was quite disappointing. They really did manage to give a manly idea an overly feminine touch. The potatoes looked anemic and not golden, I had no choice how I wanted my eggs done; the tomato was a okay, it seemed as if the cook doesn't know how to take out a grilled tomato out of a flat top griddle; The asparagus was fine. However, there was this mystery pink gravy on my plate… Which tasted as it looked like: Blah.

The steak: dry  + perfectly medium +perfectly unseasoned = Disappointing.

All served on a cold plate, like their hearts for service. How can you make something so exciting… So… Mediocre?

We had finished our meal and stood up, finally realising that they just finished setting up the glorious brunch that they are known for. Maybe next time, Ill come on time and not deal with rushed expensive food on a nice Sunday.

Sam had Tapa and Eggs, Garlic Rice + some Indian  Tea

Sam: I loved my food. I'm happy to have tried their rather  classy version of my favorite Tapsilog. It was a concoction of sweet, tangy, salty and garlicky flavors. It really gave me a surge of nostalgia. Plus, It went well with the supposed -to -be -energizing Indian tea-but-not-really.
The service however, was quite disappointing. Bad customer service really tops the chart of my What ruins your day? list. Heck, I think it's the only thing on my list. I was really surprised with how we were treated by the staff when we got there. First, they didn't acknowledge our presence (they're still busy setting up at 8 am which is supposed to be their serving time already). Second, when we asked to change tables when it started drizzling, our request fell on deaf ears. That was really disappointing. I didn't expect to receive this from a restaurant which belongs to a group that is famous for their excellent service.
Oh well. That's it for the service. It actually ruined the supposed to be relaxing dining experience M Cafe has to offer.

I'd say, no matter how good your food and how awesome your place is,  if  your customer service sucks, you'd definitely lose guests.

Suggestion/s:  When you say you open at 8am, please be totally ready  by 8 am.
